A Chess Experiment
I sat to play a little game
Against a master worth his name
So why not try a funky trick
A bishop for two pawns, so slick!
He looked me squarely in the eyes
Amusement he could scarce disguise
Clutched his heart in mock alarm
Undone was I by farce and charm
Doubling up with laughter loud
A sliver lining in the cloud
I played my move and made a boast
But o sweet blunder, I was toast!
A pause, a beat was all it took
Revenge was brutal, by the book
Alas, too late, there’s no retreat
I knocked my King, ‘twas defeat
